Release 10.1A: OpenEdge Reporting:
Query/Results for UNIX
Configuration file (.qc file)
The
.qcfile is the configuration file that contains the list of permissions, printers, joins, and so forth. By default, Results tries to create the.qcfile in the same directory that contains the database (dbname.db). However, if the database is on another machine, Results might not be able to reach that directory. In that case, Results places the.qcfile in the current directory. Once Results creates the.qcfile, you can move it anywhere in yourPROPATH. However, you must move the.qlfile to the same directory. (For information about the.qlfile, see the "Query log file (.ql file)" section.)When you start Results, it first looks for the
.qcfile in the current directory. If it cannot find it there, it looks for it in thePROPATH. Because it takes time to read the.qcfile, Results has a feature called fast load. This feature consists of several files calledresxxxxx.r, wherexis an integer. These compiled routines automatically load all of the configuration information at startup. The files load information so Results does not have to read the entire
.qcfile each time a user starts it. They are automatically created when you first build the query interface (at start up) and each time you leave the Administration module. You can place the
.qcfile and the fast load routines anywhere in yourPROPATH.
